Here Come the Police

I went to get the mail about an hour ago and looked down the stairwell to see two police officers and a maintenence man mopping the floor. I could see two police cars and an ambulance on the street. When I went down the stairs, I noticed everyone was wearing rubber gloves, and they were saying that there had been blood all over the hallway. Inside an apartment, a paramedic was neeling over someone who was babbling incoherently. It was the lady who has always struck me as a little bit mentally ill when I see her. Her husband doesn't smile much either. The husband showed up as I was going back into the building with my mail and said something about nosebleeds, but I have a feeling that wasn't all that was going on. Oh, the special people in New Jersey. I'm going to keep my door locked all the time.

Been so long

I am sitting on the couch listening to the radio and mentally preparing myself to go to work this afternoon. Yesterday I had a full schedule of appointments, but NO ONE showed up. Only one person called to cancel. What is up with this? I am trying not to take it personally, but it's starting to make me wonder what I'm doing wrong. Then again, most of the people who didn't show up were first appointments and therefore have never met me before.

I really need to work on my Irigaray/Phallocentrism paper before I leave for work. I think I have a good start, but it's due in slightly less than two weeks, so I need to get on it. I am such a horrible procrastinator!

I've been working on the wedding plans recently. The guest list is the current project. It is really difficult to narrow it down to 100 people because family members make up about 75 percent of that and it would be nice to have friends there! I also need to deal with the whole bridesmaid dress thing. Don't get me wrong, I am excited about getting married, I just don't like having to worry about who I'm offending by every decision I make related to the event!

On a sad note, my friend Becca has been evacuated from Chad due to the rebel activity there and will not be able to go back. She didn't even get to say goodbye to her host family or her students. Keep her in your thoughts.
